The Oyo State government says it will deploy 2,000 security officers to ensure the smooth coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Chairman of the Coronation Planning Committee, Chief Bayo Oyero, made this known during a briefing at the Olubadan Palace, Oker-Aremo, Ibadan.
Oyero explained that police, Civil Defence, and Amotekun officers would be on duty because of the high-profile guests expected, including President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries.

He said the coronation goes beyond Ibadan, representing Yoruba heritage, Nigerian culture, and African pride.
Oyero also thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for his support, noting that this was the first time a non-government official was leading the planning committee.

The weeklong programme will begin on Tuesday, September 23, with a cultural festival at Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku. On Wednesday, September 24, Professor Toyin Falola will deliver a coronation lecture at the University of Ibadan’s International Conference Centre.

A mega praise and worship concert is planned for Thursday, September 25, at the Civic Centre, Idi-Ape. The day will also mark Oba Ladoja’s 81st birthday.
The grand coronation will take place on Friday, September 26, at Mapo Hall.

A thanksgiving service will hold on Sunday, September 28, at the Catholic Cathedral, Oke Padre. The celebrations will end with a Jumat service on Friday, October 3, at Ojaba Central Mosque.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Otunba Ademola Ojo, said the events will be broadcast live on TV, radio, and social media for Nigerians at home and abroad.

He also revealed that Ibadan’s music scene will be showcased, with Fuji stars Saheed Osupa, Taye Currency, and other local musicians performing.
