Quick Read

The order was given by the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass, who said the closure is a sign of respect for the new monarch.

All markets in Ibadan will be closed on Friday, September 26, 2025, in honour of the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.

The order was given by the Babaloja General of Oyo State, Asiwaju Yekeen Abass, who said the closure is a sign of respect for the new monarch.

According to him, all markets across the eleven local government areas of Ibadan, including those in the city centre and nearby communities, will suspend business for the day.

In a statement, Asiwaju Abass congratulated Oba Ladoja on behalf of market leaders, zonal executives, and traders across the state.

He prayed that the reign of the new Olubadan would bring peace, prosperity, and progress to Ibadan and Oyo State.

He also urged traders to attend the coronation ceremony at Mapo Hall, describing it as an important way to show respect and support for the new ruler.

In addition, Abass sent birthday wishes to Oba Ladoja, wishing him good health and many happy years ahead.
