Tears as popular billionaire industrialist Oscar Ibru dies

Olorogun Oscar Ibru, billionaire businessman and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, has died at the age of 67.

His family confirmed that he passed away after a brief illness, though further details about the circumstances of his death were not disclosed.

Ibru was one of the most prominent heirs of the renowned Ibru dynasty and a central figure in Nigeria’s corporate landscape. He played a significant role in sustaining and expanding the vast family conglomerate established by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru, with investments spanning shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce.

Widely regarded as a visionary businessman and custodian of his family’s legacy, Ibru steered the Ibru Organisation into continued relevance, providing jobs, creating wealth, and supporting philanthropic and cultural causes.

His passing comes nearly a decade after the death of his father, Michael Ibru, in 2016
