The Ondo State Government has spent over N4 billion on renovation of some public schools towards improving the learning environment for students and teachers.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Akure on Thursday.

Ajibefun disclosed that the money was spent to provide furniture and renovate 78 public primary and secondary schools across the state.

He stated that part of the fund was used in reconstructing and renovating schools selected across the three senatorial zones of Ondo state.

“Right now, renovation of schools, classrooms and laboratories are going on all over the state. The renovation covers all the three Senatorial Districts. The administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is spending a lot to revamp the school, not only in terms of quality and standard, but also in terms of facilities and infrastructure. I have visited a number of schools, mostly in Akure, where renovation work is going on, including primary and secondary schools. The governor is very passionate about revamping the education sector in the state,” he told NAN.

The commissioner disclosed that the state government was also prioritising the training of teachers towards ensuring quality education delivery.

Ajibefun stressed that as part of efforts to improve education quality and administration, the state was working to fully digitalise its primary and secondary education system from 2026.

“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is committed to enhancing the quality and standard of education. It is in line with this vision that I was appointed as the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology. In carrying out the vision of Mr. Governor, I’ve put up a number of things to really revamp the education sector in the state,” he stated. (NAN)
