Kashim Shettima, the Vice-President of Nigeria, has weighed in on what could bring lasting peace for Palestine.

While addressing the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States on Wednesday, Shettima stated that the people of Palestine should not be treated like collateral damage.

He added that the Palestinians are equally entitled to freedom and basic humanity and dignity. Shettima also proposed the two state solution, stating that it is the best path for lasting peace.

”The people of Palestine are not collateral damage in a civilisation searching for order, they are human beings, equal in worth, entitled to the same freedoms and dignities that the rest of us take for granted. This is why we are not indifferent to the devastations of our neighbours near and distant. We speak of the aggression and violence metted upon innocent civilians in Gaza and the illegal attack on Qatar,” he said.
