In an Instagram post, the nightlife entrepreneur revealed that his mother prayed fervently for a child for over six years and made a vow to God that one of her children would serve in the priesthood.

Celebrity barman and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest (real name Chibuike Okechukwu), has shared an emotional story about his late mother’s dream for him to join the Catholic priesthood, a dream he admits he never fulfilled.

In an Instagram post, the nightlife entrepreneur revealed that his mother prayed fervently for a child for over six years and made a vow to God that one of her children would serve in the priesthood.

According to him, after the birth of his elder brother Onyinyechukwu (“Gift from God”), his mother gave birth to him amid serious complications, prompting her to name him Chibuike (“God is my strength”).

He disclosed that his mother strongly desired for him to become a Catholic priest and that he even attempted to gain admission into the seminary.

However, he could not complete the journey to priesthood, noting:

“Many are called but few are chosen. Next year will make it 10 years since I lost my mom, and everyone who knows my real story will testify that after she made it to heaven, my story changed for good. Every day, I live with the guilt that I disappointed my mama by not becoming a Catholic priest. She wanted to be called Mama Father, but instead I became the ChiefPriest.”

Cubana Chief Priest added that despite not fulfilling his mother’s dream, he still sees himself as doing God’s work in other ways.

To honour her memory, he announced plans to release a thanksgiving Catholic Christian song featuring rapper Zoro and produced by Masterkraft.
