United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau on Friday met with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, in New York City.

The meeting was on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly taken place in the U.S.

The meeting, according to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, in a statement, underscored Washington’s commitment to maintaining a strong and enduring partnership with Nigeria.

“Deputy Secretary Landau met Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar today in New York City on the margins of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting highlighted the United States’ commitment to a strong and enduring partnership with Nigeria,” Pigott stated.

He added that Landau and Tuggar “discussed several key issues” during the engagement.

Some of the key issues discussed are illegal immigration, enhancing security, and promoting religious freedom.
