Malik Scott, former coach of boxing champion Deontay Wilder, has said that a boxing fight between Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney would attract worldwide attention.

Scott believes such a fight would not only entertain fans but also bring more people to the sport of boxing.

Rooney and Ronaldo once played together at Manchester United. Ronaldo, now 40 years old, is still active in football with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Rooney, 39, has retired from playing and now works as a pundit after managing several clubs. Both are big fans of boxing.

“Cristiano Ronaldo vs Wayne Rooney would bring more eyes to boxing, and I’m all for it,” Scott told CanadaCasino.

“Any time boxing gets more attention, it’s good. People should enjoy the spectacle—it would be a global event because these are two huge names that would draw massive numbers.”

Recently, Rooney said he has a lot of respect for Ronaldo. He explained that even though many fans think there is tension between them, he has no problem with the Portuguese star.

The two famously clashed during the 2006 World Cup when Ronaldo was accused of influencing Rooney’s red.
