Oyo State, especially Ibadan, is ready to host big events, including Super Eagles games. Come and see our facilities, and I promise to give you the needed support,” he said.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has asked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to allow the Super Eagles to play their international matches in Ibadan.

Makinde said this will boost the state’s plan to grow its sports economy. He made the request on Saturday while opening the 2025 Annual General Assembly of the NFF in Ibadan.

He explained that football is an important tool for unity in Nigeria and that his government is ready to support major sporting events. According to him, Ibadan already has facilities that can host such matches.

“Oyo State, especially Ibadan, is ready to host big events, including Super Eagles games. Come and see our facilities, and I promise to give you the needed support,” he said.

The governor also praised the NFF and the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) leadership for improving officiating and organizing the league better.
