U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that a landmark Middle East peace agreement is “beyond very close,” after announcing a 21-point plan he described as potentially “one of the greatest days ever in civilisation.”

Speaking at the White House alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump framed the proposal as a historic turning point that could bring an immediate end to the Gaza war.

“Today is a historic day for peace,” Trump said, adding that “,We have worked closely with Prime Minister Netanyahu, and I must thank the leaders of Arab and Muslim nations for their support. This plan is the product of input from many nations, including key allies in Europe.”

According to Trump, the peace framework includes the release of hostages held in Gaza, the repatriation of the remains of those killed, and a phased withdrawal of Israeli Defense Forces.

He said Arab and Muslim nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, and Jordan, have committed to de-militarising Gaza and dismantling Hamas’ extensive tunnel and weapons networks.

“The threat of Hamas will be destroyed,” Trump declared, adding that the U.S. would fully back Israel if Hamas rejected the deal.

He also revealed that a “board of peace,” chaired by himself, would supervise implementation of the agreement, and noted that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair had expressed interest in serving on the body.

“Hamas is the only party left to agree to the deal,” Trump said.

The  president extended an olive branch to Iran, signalling openness to future engagement.

“The U.S. wants to get along with Iran. Who knows, maybe even Iran can get in there. At some point, Iran will be a member of the accords, and it would be a great thing for them economically.”

Netanyahu, for his part, expressed gratitude for Trump’s leadership, describing the peace initiative as a rare opportunity to end decades of conflict.

The coming days are expected to reveal whether Hamas, the final holdout, will accept the terms that could redraw the political and security landscape of the Middle East.
