The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has urged Nigerians to unite in confronting insecurity as the country marks its 65th Independence Anniversary.
AANI President, Emmanuel Okafor, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, congratulated the government and people of Nigeria, describing unity and patriotism as the nation’s greatest strengths.
Okafor commended the Armed Forces and security agencies for their sacrifices in countering insurgency, terrorism and other threats.
He urged them to intensify efforts and adopt innovative strategies to restore peace nationwide.
Okafor stressed that security is the foundation for development and prosperity, and called on all tiers of government to work in synergy with communities and civil society.
He added that national security must be a collective responsibility of both leaders and citizens.
The AANI president said Nigerians should rise above ethnic, religious and political divides to build a safe, united and prosperous nation in line with the vision of the founding fathers. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
