The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of three suspected Lakurawa bandits during a joint security operation in Gorun Yamma village, Dandi Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement on Friday, said the operation was led by Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kamba, Muhammed Bello, following actionable intelligence on the bandits’ movement.

A team comprising police officers and local vigilantes engaged the criminals in a fierce gunfight that lasted several hours. Three suspected bandits were neutralized during the encounter, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds, abandoning weapons and an unregistered vehicle at the scene.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the swift and coordinated response of the security team. He urged continued synergy between law enforcement and community groups to flush out criminal elements from the state.

“The command remains committed to making Kebbi State a no-go area for bandits,” the CP stated, while also encouraging residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely information.
