The Obidient Movement has said there is no political agreement between former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to remove President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, clarified that no alliance or deal exists between the two politicians.

There had been rumours that Jonathan might contest the 2027 presidential election and could either return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Recently, Jonathan met with ADC leaders, including the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, and spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, in Abuja.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi has not yet decided which political party he will use to contest in 2027. Although he is still a member of the Labour Party, he also belongs to an opposition coalition that has adopted the ADC.

A recent closed-door meeting between Jonathan and Obi raised speculation about a possible alliance.
Tanko, however, dismissed such rumours, saying:

“My principal and the former president have a good relationship and often talk about how to move Nigeria forward. Their meeting should not be seen as a political pact. Even when they met in Ghana, I was present, and there was no discussion about 2027.”
