Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has claimed that the cost of construction of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway was inflated.
Atiku, in a statement released by his Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, stated that he had previously raised an alarm concerning the cost.
He added that his claims and concerns were dismissed by the minister of works, David Umahi, only for him to now admit the actual cost which he warned Nigerians about.
“This admission not only vindicates the former vice president’s position but also exposes the Tinubu administration’s lack of transparency in managing one of the most expensive infrastructure projects in Nigeria’s history,” the statement said.
