The Palace of the Onojie of Ekpoma His Royal Majesty Barr Anthony Ehizojie Abumere II welcomed the Pro-Chancellor and members of the Governing Council of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara, Kogi State on Wednesday 15th October, 2025.

The Pro-Chancellor Emeritus Professor Olu Obafemi expressed his excitement at meeting the Chancellor Designate. He noted that his visit was imperative to familiarize himself with His Royal Majesty ahead of his official investiture ceremony slated for the 29th of November, 2025 at CUSTECH, Osara, Kogi State.

The Vice-Chancellor of CUSTECH, Prof Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu also expressed the felicitations of the Kogi State Governor His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo, Members of the Governing Council, Staff and Students of the University to His Royal Majesty.

He said that preparations are in top gear for the official investiture ceremony. He formally introduced the Pro-Chancellor to His Royal Majesty. He described the Pro-Chancellor as a doyen of Nigeria Academics and Administration who has been impacting CUSTECH positively since his appointment.

In his remarks, His Royal Majesty Barr Anthony Ehizojie Abumere II (JP) expressed gratitude to God Almighty for the journey mercies granted to the visiting team.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing him as the Chancellor of CUSTECH.

He further expressed his gratitude to the Executive Governor of Edo State His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo for his recommendation.

He prayed for both Executive Governors to have successful tenures as they work tirelessly to improve the fortunes of their respective States.

He enjoined all and sundry to support the renewed hope agenda of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. He also pledged his commitment to the improvement of the CUSTECH and prayed that the University which is already regarded as the fastest growing State University in Nigeria would soon become the cynosure of all eyes. He sued for the cooperation of all and sundry to make his prayers a reality.

Several Palace Chiefs dressed in their colourful regalia witnessed the ceremony. Notable prominent personalities also present at the event include a former Vice Chancellor of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Prof Daniel Aigbomian; former Pro-Chancellor of AAU Chief Lawson Omokhodion; former Provost and Chief Executive Officer of the College of Education Igueben Prof Matthew Omo-Ojugo JP; former Dean of the Faculty of Arts AAU Venerable Prof Benjamin Nkoyen Egede; Arc Nicholas Erazua a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Party and Dr Andrew Oseghale Eigbedion, Consultant Paediatrician at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital and Medical Director of Eseohe Medical Centre Ekpoma. Several members of the Press were also in attendance to cover the ceremony.

The ceremony was also marked with a cultural display by the Palace Traditional Troupe, a photo session and the event was rounded up with a Royal Banquet as all present were feted to delicious meals.
