Why I vanished for four years — Seyi Shay

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Seyi Shay, has opened up about her decision to take a four-year break from the music industry.

She revealed that it was a period dedicated to self-discovery, spiritual growth, and personal transformation.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the award-winning artiste explained that stepping away from the spotlight helped her reconnect with herself both mentally and spiritually.

Seyi Shay described the experience as one of the most profound and life-changing phases of her journey, noting that her transformation began even before she became a mother.

“I have done so much work over these past four years. The transformation of my mind started before I had my child. I started a journey of isolation,” she said.

According to the singer, isolation became a gift that gave her the opportunity to reflect deeply, gain insight, and find clarity in her life.

“There is something really good about isolation… I was blessed with hindsight, insight, and foresight, and I think that is the biggest gift besides my daughter that God has given me these few years,” she added.

The Right Now crooner further shared that her renewed spirituality has reshaped her outlook on life and relationships.

“My spirituality has also transformed, and I am vibrating on such a different level now that I actually feel very comfortable with men. I love all the men. It is a man’s world,” she said.
