Four police officers in serious trouble over use of excessive force

The Adamawa State Police Command says four of its officers have been arrested and detained for alleged indiscipline and violation of standard operational procedures.
This was disclosed on Tuesday in Yola by Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesperson.
According to the statement, the officers involved used excessive force and fired shots into the air while effecting the arrest of a suspect.
The incident reportedly took place on 14 October in Sabon Gari quarters, within Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, condemned the unprofessional conduct displayed by the officers and reassured the public that justice would be served.
He appealed to members of the community to remain calm and assured that the police would handle the matter in accordance with the law.
CP Morris also directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the IGP’s X Squad to carry out a thorough and diligent investigation into the incident.
