Liverpool crisis grows as Micah Richards points fingers at key players

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has criticised three Liverpool players  Conor Bradley, Milos Kerkez, and Alexander Isak  after their 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Anfield over the weekend.

Richards said the three players are “shadows of the players they were last season.”

In the match, Bryan Mbeumo gave Manchester United an early lead before Cody Gakpo equalised for Liverpool in the 78th minute. However, Harry Maguire scored a late header in the 84th minute to seal victory for United.

This was Liverpool’s third straight defeat in the Premier League and their fourth in all competitions. They now sit fourth on the table, four points behind leaders Arsenal.

The win also marked United’s first victory at Anfield in nearly ten years and their first back-to-back wins under new coach Ruben Amorim.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards said Liverpool’s form has dropped significantly.

“Liverpool right now just look off,” he said. “Kerkez doesn’t look like the same player we saw at Bournemouth last season. Conor Bradley also looks unsure  when he goes forward, he seems scared to keep the ball even though he can do it.”

Richards also questioned the performance of Alexander Isak, who joined from Newcastle United for over £100 million.

“If you spend that much money on players like Wirtz and Isak, they should be performing,” he said. “Isak looks a shadow of himself. Whatever happened in the summer has clearly affected him  he doesn’t look fit.”

Liverpool will try to bounce back when they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
