This announcement was made in a statement released by SP Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer in the FCT, on Thursday.

The Federal Capital Territory commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has announced the redeployment of a DPO accused of assault.

This announcement was made in a statement released by SP Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer in the FCT, on Thursday.

Adeh noted that the Force does not support such unacceptable behaviors, adding that the DPO will be redeployed to the FCT Headquarters while undergoing investigation.

“This decision follows the circulation of a video on X (formerly Twitter) depicting the DPO slapping a young man on Wednesday. The CP strongly condemned the officer’s actions, which fall short of the high standards of discipline, civility, and professionalism expected of police officers. While administrative disciplinary steps are being taken, the CP has reminded all DPOs and their subordinates that they must remain professional, courteous, and law-abiding in the discharge of their duties. The CP has warned that any act of misconduct or abuse of power will attract severe sanctions,” she said.
