Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has been accused of cyber harassment, blackmail, and invasion of privacy in a legal petition reportedly filed by the solicitors of a woman identified as Jane Doe.
In a statement issued by Bristol & Mortglass C.S. and sent to PM News on Sunday, the law firm alleged that its client had suffered prolonged cyberstalking, emotional harassment, and non-consensual circulation of private video content after rejecting the artiste’s romantic advances in December 2024.
According to the firm, all efforts to get Blaqbonez to desist from the alleged “unlawful procurement and circulation of indecent videos” proved unsuccessful.
“Following our client’s decision to decline his advances for a romantic relationship, Mr Akumefule embarked on a series of deliberate and malicious actions intended to intimidate, humiliate, and emotionally damage her,” the statement read.
The petition alleged that Blaqbonez’s actions amounted to blackmail, cyberstalking, and invasion of privacy, including the “unlawful procurement and circulation of private indecent video content without consent.”
Bristol & Mortglass C.S. further stated that the alleged actions had caused their client severe psychological and emotional trauma, prompting the petition to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation and justice.
“Despite several reasonable attempts respectfully asking Mr Akumefule to desist, he persisted in his conduct, spreading false and damaging information about our client to tarnish her reputation,” the firm added.
The statement also noted that Ms Doe now fears for her safety in Lagos and has suffered professional and personal distress as a result of the alleged harassment.
The lawyers maintained that the rapper’s actions violated multiple laws, including the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015, the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015, and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, urging law enforcement to act accordingly.
The firm also revealed that legal correspondence from TIA Solicitors had earlier been sent to Blaqbonez on 30 December 2024 and 8 January 2025, demanding the immediate deletion of private materials belonging to Ms Doe, a public apology, and financial compensation of ₦200 million for emotional distress.
Despite reportedly serving the documents at his residence on two occasions, the lawyers said the alleged harassment persisted.
As of press time, Blaqbonez and his management team had not issued an official response to the allegations.
Efforts to reach Ajayi Feyisetan, an executive at Chocolate City, the rapper’s record label, were also unsuccessful.
