Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, with Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham both on target to hand Los Blancos a crucial win that puts them two points clear at the top of La Liga.
Mbappe opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after linking up with Bellingham, calmly slotting the ball past Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny. The visitors hit back through Fermín Lopez, who levelled from Marcus Rashford’s assist in the 38th minute.
But Bellingham restored Madrid’s lead just before half-time with a brilliant acrobatic strike from Eder Militão’s knockdown, a goal that proved decisive in a heated contest.
Barcelona pushed for an equaliser in the second half but failed to break down Real’s defence. The closing moments turned chaotic when Pedri was shown a second yellow card deep into stoppage time for a rough tackle on Aurelien Tchouameni.
The tension spilled to the touchline, with players and staff from both sides exchanging words before the final whistle.
Real manager Xabi Alonso celebrated his first El Clasico victory in charge, while Barcelona’s boss Hansi Flick watched helplessly from the stands after serving a touchline ban.
The win keeps Real Madrid top of La Liga with 25 points, while Barcelona stay second on 23.
