The Hopes Alive Initiative for Africa (HAI Africa) a non-governmental organisation founded by the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan-Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, in collaboration with the French Embassy Fund (FEF) held the Ladies in Tech Conference on Tuesday at the University of Lagos in Akoka, Lagos.
It marked part of the activities to wrap up 16 weeks of immersive and hands-on digital training for young girls from vulnerable communities in Lagos State.
The event, held at the ACEDHARS Building inside the Unilag campus, was graced by the Deputy Convener of the Hopesalive Initiative for Africa, Her Regalia Majesty, Olori Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, panelists from Nigerian technology industry, who discussed on series of interesting thematic topics to further expose the beneficiaries of the training to the world of digital economy and students.
No fewer than 60 young girls have been trained with primary focus on digital empowerment training aimed at helping them acquire practical tech skills, explore digital entrepreneurship, and prepare them for the opportunities in the global digital economy.
Speakers commended the Convener of HAI Africa, His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan-Ogunwusi, the Deputy Convener, Her Regalia Majesty, Olori Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, partners such as the French Embassy, Edunity.ng and others for championing women’s inclusion in technology.
They stressed that in today’s fast-changing digital world, women are not just participants but leaders, innovators, and creators shaping industries across the world.
A key highlight of the programme is the Job Fair, which organisers planned to use to link participants with top companies, recruiters, and startups eager to hire and collaborate with talented women in tech.
Through panel discussions and interactive. sessions, attendees gained hands-on experience and insights in fields such as cybersecurity, fintech, data analytics, and digital marketing.
Her Regalia Majesty, Olori Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi described the event as a major step toward bridging the gender gap in technology and inspiring a new generation of digitally empowered women ready to lead Nigeria’s innovation future.
