Vinicius Jr apologises for El Clasico outburst

Vinicius Junior has publicly apologised to the fans, his teammates, club officials and president of Real Madrid after his visible frustration during last Sunday’s fierce El Clasico against FC Barcelona threatened to overshadow a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

In an official statement posted on the club’s social channels, the Brazilian forward said:

“Today I want to apologise to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clásico. … Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team… I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day.”

The incident occurred during the October 26 match at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium when Real Madrid edged Barcelona 2-1. Vini was substituted in the 72nd minute and stormed off the pitch visibly angered.

He returned to the bench shortly afterward amidst a heated exchange between players from both sides, which escalated into a post-match brawl requiring police intervention.

Meanwhile, the club has reportedly decided not to punish him.
