President Bola Tinubu on Thursday ordered the newly decorated service chiefs to act decisively against the resurgence of armed groups threatening peace across parts of the country.

Speaking at the decoration ceremony held at the State House, Abuja, Tinubu expressed grave concern over the recent emergence of new violent groups in the North-Central, North-West, and some parts of the South, warning that his administration would not allow such threats to fester.

“Security threats are constantly evolving, constantly mutating. Of grave concern to our administration is the recent emergence of new armed groups in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South. We must not allow these new threats to fester. We must be decisive and proactive. Let us smash the new snakes right in the head,” Tinubu charged.

He urged the service chiefs to demonstrate patriotic zeal and innovation in tackling insecurity, stressing that Nigerians demand tangible results rather than excuses.

Tinubu emphasised the need for the armed forces to stay ahead of insurgents and criminal groups through courage, technology, and intelligence-driven operations.

While commending the military for reclaiming territories and reducing terrorist activities in recent years, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing full support to the armed forces to secure lasting peace and stability across Nigeria.

He expressed confidence in the service chiefs’ capacity to meet the nation’s security expectations, urging them to justify the trust reposed in them through strategic leadership and measurable outcomes.
