INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), gave the assurance during an inspection visit to the commission’s office in Awka ahead of a stakeholders’ meeting set for Monday, November 3.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is fully prepared for the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), gave the assurance during an inspection visit to the commission’s office in Awka ahead of a stakeholders’ meeting set for Monday, November 3.

“Our responsibility is to the people of this nation. We are fully prepared to deliver an election that is fair, credible, and reflective of the people’s will,” Amupitan said.

He urged all stakeholders to work with the commission to ensure a smooth and peaceful process, warning against “attempts by vested interests to discredit the process.”

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Anambra, Dr. Elizabeth Agwu, also confirmed that all non-sensitive materials had been distributed across the state’s 21 local government areas.

She added that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) had been fully configured, tested, and ready for deployment.

“We have left nothing to chance. From the training of personnel to the deployment of materials, every step has been taken to ensure a smooth and technology-driven election,” Agwu said.

She added that generators had been provided to guarantee an uninterrupted power supply at critical locations.

Prof. Amupitan and the REC both stressed the need for cooperation among political parties, security agencies, civil society groups, and the media for a credible election.

“We are committed to carrying every stakeholder along. Transparency and partnership remain the bedrock of our credibility,” Amupitan said.

The INEC boss, alongside national commissioners, also inspected the commission’s offices in Oyi and Awka South LGAs to assess final preparations.

During the visit, local electoral officers showcased materials already sorted for distribution to polling areas.

Amupitan directed that all election materials must arrive at polling units by 7:00 a.m. on election day, with voting to begin at exactly 8:30 a.m.
