The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has explained why its National Working Committee (NWC) suspended some top officials, including the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and the National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature.
The NWC announced on Saturday that Anyanwu, Bature, the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, and the Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha, were suspended for one month.
The decision followed a court ruling that stopped the party’s planned national convention.
According to the party, a warning letter had been sent to Anyanwu and Bature on September 30, 2025.
The letter accused them of misconduct, including unauthorized communication, anti-party activities, and actions that weakened party unity and disobeyed internal rules.
The PDP said the warning served as their final notice, asking them to immediately follow NWC directives or face disciplinary action.
Despite the warning, the two officials allegedly continued with actions the party considered disruptive, leading to their suspension.
“This decision shows our commitment to maintaining discipline, internal democracy, and transparency in the PDP,” the statement said.
The party added that the warning and suspension were proactive steps to protect its integrity before important upcoming national events.
