For many people and organisations, October 16th, 2025, was just another day of the year. But not for Cardtonic Cares. In partnership with the Kokun Foundation, the initiative reached out to the needy in the Ojodu Berger community in Lagos. With love, they distributed food boxes to widows and widowers, feeding families and fostering hope.
The goal of the outreach was simple: remind the widows and widowers who are often forgotten in our communities that if no one else cares, Cardtonic does.
For Cardtonic, a well-known fintech company in Nigeria, impact should mean more than providing innovative financial solutions like virtual dollar card services. Technology is not enough if it doesn’t directly put smiles on faces and empower communities. That’s the driving force of Cardtonic Cares, the charity arm of Cardtonic.
At Cardtonic Cares, it’s part of the culture to reach out to the needy around us each month, and for October, the spotlight was on residents of the Ojodu Berger community.
At the end of the day, a simple outreach to share food boxes and offer relief turned into something bigger. It became a moment of human connection and shared warmth.
Uniting Strengths to Drive Positive Change
To eradicate hunger from our communities, it takes more than just passion. Partnership is needed. Cardtonic Cares knows this. And that’s why the initiative joined hands with Kokun Foundation, a well-known charity organisation in the country.
For years, the Kokun Foundation has remained consistent in pushing the limits of charity in the country. From orphans, widows, and widowers to children with Down syndrome, among others, the foundation has lent a helping hand to many. Its verified record of community service made it the ideal partner for Cardtonic Cares in the fight against hunger.
When Cardtonic was founded in 2018 to offer simple and reliable financial tools for Africans, the co-founders did something. They handpicked the best brains to drive the vision. Every hire had to justify itself by adding tangible value. And years later, the fintech brand has become an authority in the finance industry.
Today, Cardtonic is using the same energy that powered its success in technology to drive social change and empower communities through Cardtonic Cares. A testament to that is the initiative’s partnership with the Kokun Foundation. And the results speak for themselves.

Cardtonic Cares and Kokun Foundation proved, through their partnership, that when two good forces unite, even the smallest of acts can have a big impact.
Delivering Hope, One Food Box at a Time
In a world ravaged by war, it’s hard to believe love and kindness still exist. Cardtonic Cares stood up once again to bury such doubts in our local community by spreading hope.
For the one hundred families who received the food boxes, it offered them more than relief and renewed strength. It was a reassurance that someone, somewhere, cares enough to extend a helping hand. A reminder that they are not alone in their struggle to stay afloat.
The event wasn’t just Cardtonic Cares handing out food boxes; it was also the initiative delivering hope, one food box at a time.
Closing Thoughts
What Cardtonic Cares and Kokun Foundation did is beyond mere charity; it’s a wake-up call for other stakeholders in our society. A call for other organisations to unite with compassion and bring real transformation to where it’s needed the most.
Hope does come to people in different forms. For an unemployed graduate, it can be a job in a big firm. For a heartbroken person, it can be some words of encouragement. And for a widow or widower in the Ojodu Berger community, it might just be a food box wrapped in love.
And if more people continue to show up for the needy among us this way, perhaps hunger and hopelessness will become a thing of the past in our communities.
