Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested three individuals for alleged vote buying during Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State.
The suspects, identified as Emeka Ilokasia, Nwachukwu Loretta, and Emuka Chuwudi, were apprehended in separate locations across the state while reportedly attempting to influence voters with cash inducements.
According to the EFCC, Ilokasia was arrested at Ward 2 in Njikoka Local Government Area, Loretta at Ward 2 (008) in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government, and Chuwudi at Umunachi village in Dunukofia Local Government Area.
The anti-graft agency stated that the arrests were part of its broader monitoring operation to curb financial malpractices during the electoral process.
The EFCC confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
