Omah Lay reacts to first Grammy nomination

Nigerian singer Omah Lay, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, has shared his feelings after receiving his first Grammy nomination.
He said he doesn’t care about winning the award himself, but he hopes his friend Davido wins.
The nomination came after the 2026 Grammy Nominations were announced on Friday, November 7. Omah Lay is nominated for the song
“With You”, a collaboration with Davido, in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
On Instagram, Omah Lay expressed excitement about being nominated but explained that awards are not very important to him.
However, he said he really wants Davido to win, calling him “the realest friend” who has stood by him during difficult times.
Despite being nominated four times before, Davido has not yet won a Grammy.
He has been regularly nominated in the Best African Music Performance category since it was introduced in 2023.
