"There is no point discussing this from my point of view. The reality is that we lost 3-0 and that is a big blow. We lost. We have to improve. The season is long and will be a big fight."
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has described Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium as a “big blow,” acknowledging the harsh reality his team faces this season.
Speaking after the match, Van Dijk said:
“There is no point discussing this from my point of view. The reality is that we lost 3-0 and that is a big blow. We lost. We have to improve. The season is long and will be a big fight.”
The Dutch defender’s comments underline the frustration within the Liverpool camp after a performance in which City dismantled Arne Slot’s tactics with ruthless precision.
Van Dijk admitted that the Reds were outplayed and highlighted the need for urgent improvement if Liverpool are to compete at the top level this season.
“We know where we went wrong. There’s no hiding from that. Now it’s about working hard, learning from the mistakes, and fighting back,” he added, signaling a determination to bounce back despite the heavy loss.
