World Cup Playoffs: How we’ll play against Super Eagles – Gabon coach, Mouyouma

Quick Read

Speaking before the game, Mouyouma said Gabon’s goal is to control the match and dominate the midfield.

Gabon head coach, Thierry Mouyouma, has shared how his team will play against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Thursday’s 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff.

The crucial match will be held in Rabat, Morocco. The winner will later face either Cameroon or DR Congo in the next round.

Speaking before the game, Mouyouma said Gabon’s goal is to control the match and dominate the midfield.

He explained that the team doesn’t need to score many goals  just a 1–0 win over Nigeria will be enough to move forward.

“One of the keys to this match is our ability to control both the game and the midfield,” Mouyouma said during a press conference.

“We must keep possession of the ball — not just for show, but to dominate in our half and move forward as a team.

We need to stay focused and control the game in the opponent’s half. If we can do that and score once, we’ll qualify.”

Mouyouma added that this plan represents the technical strategy designed by Gabon’s coaching staff for the big clash against Nigeria.
