The Lagos State Government (LASG), through the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), has officially launched its Outbreak Response (OBR) Campaign, aimed at boosting immunization coverage and preventing the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases across the state.

The campaign commenced in Agege Local Government Area and targets every eligible child under five, ensuring access to life-saving vaccines while enhancing disease surveillance and community awareness.

The initiative is part of LASG’s proactive measures to maintain high population immunity and prevent disease resurgence.

Leading the exercise, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, Permanent Secretary of LSPHCB, conducted supportive supervision at selected health facilities in Agege to monitor the smooth implementation of OBR activities.

He was joined by Hon. Abdulganiyu Obasa, Chairman of Agege Local Government, and senior officials from both the Board and the local council.

Mustafa emphasised LASG’s commitment to safeguarding public health through continuous vaccination and rapid outbreak response.

“Our supervisory visits are designed to ensure operational compliance, verify vaccine availability, and assess service delivery quality across all facilities,” he said, commending frontline health workers for their dedication.

He urged parents and caregivers to ensure their children are vaccinated, noting that immunization is safe, free, and the most effective protection against preventable diseases.

Obasa reaffirmed the council’s support for state-led health initiatives, stressing that community participation is critical to the campaign’s success.

“We are working hand-in-hand with LSPHCB to ensure every household in Agege benefits from this vital intervention,” he said.

The OBR campaign will continue across all local government areas in Lagos, with ongoing compliance monitoring by the Permanent Secretary and designated supervisory teams to ensure the state meets its vaccination targets.
