The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that President Bola Tinubu remains fully committed to press freedom, which he described as essential to Nigeria’s progress.

Speaking at the All Nigeria Editors’ Conference, Idris noted that no media organisation has been silenced or shut down under the current administration.

“Central to President Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous Nigeria is a society where free speech and a vibrant media can flourish,” Idris said. “I can confidently say that under his leadership, we have created one of the most open and fair media environments in Nigeria’s history.”

He also revealed that the President’s dedication to media freedom has earned global recognition, leading to Nigeria being chosen to host the International Media and Information Literacy Institute.
