The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has issued a fresh warning, claiming that the Federal Government has failed to honor their agreement.
The union, in a statement issued by Professor Christopher Piwuna, stated that the government’s approach towards meeting the union’s request is bound to have consequences on the education sector.
ASUU also warned that federal schools may face another nationwide strike action if the agreement is not fully met.
“We, therefore, hope that our expectations and indeed the expectations of Nigerians for a quick and holistic resolution are not dashed. The partial payment of promotion arrears, dating back to 2017, and the release of third-party deductions were described as confidence-boosting exercises rather than solutions to the core issues”, ASUU said.
