In a thrilling World Cup qualification semi-final clash, the Super Eagles of Nigeria overcame Gabon 4-1 after extra time, securing a spot in the playoff final with a display of resilience and attacking brilliance.
The match, held at a neutral venue in Morocco, saw the teams locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation, forcing a tense extra-time period.
Super Eagles opened the scoring in the 78th minute when Akor Adams broke through one-on-one with Gabon’s goalkeeper, slotting the ball into the net.
Gabon responded late in stoppage time through Mario Lemina, leveling the score at 1-1 and sending the encounter into extra time.
Extra time belonged to Super Eagles, with Chidera Ejuke giving the Super Eagles the lead in the 97th minute.
