The Lagos State Chapter of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) has reiterated its commitment to strengthening professional standards and supporting the state’s economic development agenda.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, the Chairman of APBN Lagos, Asimiyu-Towolawi Bashir, said the association remains dedicated to fostering collaboration among professional groups, promoting ethical conduct, and advancing service to humanity. The briefing marked the commencement of the APBN 2025 Professional Week.

Bashir noted that the annual Professional Week reflects the association’s resolve to uphold integrity, excellence, and social responsibility across all member professions.

“This year’s activities reaffirm our commitment to professionalism and to supporting the socio-economic growth of Lagos State and Nigeria,” he said.

“We are strengthening partnerships through courtesy visits, capacity-building engagements, and sustained advocacy to ensure that professionals remain responsive to the evolving needs of society.”

He explained that APBN serves as a critical bridge between professions, government, and the private sector, working to advance policies and initiatives that promote sustainable development.

The Lagos Chapter, he added, has consistently contributed to this mission through training programmes, mentorship sessions, and advocacy designed to enhance professional practice and governance.

According to him, the chapter has implemented several capacity-building initiatives this year, including sessions on “The Role of Professional Bodies in the Lagos State THEMES+ Agenda,” “Embracing Technology in Libraries,” and “Productivity Hacks for Administrators.”

“These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to equipping professionals with the skills, discipline, and values required for effective public service,” he said.

Bashir also highlighted the chapter’s emphasis on policy advocacy, mentorship, and cross-sector collaboration as tools for deepening professional impact and promoting ethical standards. APBN Lagos comprises 33 professional bodies, including NIESV, NIA, ICAN, ICSAN, NITP, NCS, NLA, NBA, NMA, and NIQS.

The 2025 Professional Week features a series of events: a press briefing on 11 November, a church service on 16 November, a seminar on 18 November, a courtesy visit to the Spinal Cord Injuries Centre in Mile 2 on 19 November, and a Jumat service at the Alausa Secretariat Central Mosque on 21 November.

Bashir said the activities are designed to strengthen unity among professionals and support vulnerable groups within society.
