The newly appointed National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has rescheduled the party’s inaugural National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, which was initially planned for Tuesday at the PDP national secretariat in Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

Addressing journalists after he and his team gained access to the premises, Turaki said the shift in date was prompted by what he termed “incidents caused by the enemies of progress and democracy.”

“Due to some incidents caused by those who are the enemies of progress, the enemies of democracy, we have decided to postpone this meeting till tomorrow,” he said.

Turaki arrived at the secretariat in the company of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed. He praised the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police for providing security that enabled the party’s national leadership to enter the complex.

“The Commissioner of Police of the FCT — I told him that we were coming today to have our inaugural NWC meeting, and that our leaders would be here to witness this historic moment,” Turaki noted.

“I also told him that we had seen on social media some flyers announcing meetings of the NEC and BoT by people who are no longer members of this party. He assured us that he was going to protect us and provide security for us to conduct our meeting. I’m happy that the Commissioner of Police has fulfilled his promise. They have made sure that we gained entry into our secretariat, and we are here addressing the gentlemen of the press.”
