A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supported by Nyesom Wike, the minister of the FCT, has announced the expulsion of three governors for allegedly working against the party.
At the 103rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Tuesday at the PDP headquarters in Abuja, the group approved the removal of:
Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo
Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi
Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara
Adolphus Wabara, former chairman of the board of trustees
Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, former minister
Taofeek Arapaja, deputy national chairman (south)
Several other key members
Mohammed Abdulrahman, the acting national chairman, said they were expelled because they repeatedly disobeyed court orders, which he said weakened the party.
The NEC also dissolved the party executives in Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, and Ekiti, but kept the current structure in Edo.
