Meet Ladipo Abiose Akolade: A Story Shaped by Experience and Responsibility
By Sola Adepitan
Ladipo Abiose Akolade was born on 25 August 1991 in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State, Nigeria. He grew up and received his education in Nigeria, within a vibrant urban Lagos setting shaped by close-knit community life and the everyday economic realities faced by many families.
From an early age, Ladipo was exposed to the social and financial pressures confronting young people in Nigeria. These formative experiences sharpened his awareness of financial vulnerability and the far-reaching consequences of unchecked gambling on individuals, families, and communities. Over a period of nine years, he personally encountered the harmful effects of gambling, an experience that would later redefine his purpose and direction in life.
Instead of allowing those years to limit his future, Ladipo transformed them into a source of insight, growth, and resolve. His lived experiences nurtured a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to protecting others from similar challenges.
This personal journey ultimately inspired his work in promoting responsible and safer gaming practices, positioning him as a passionate advocate for gambling harm prevention across Africa.
