Former Ghanaian football star, Asamoah Gyan, has listed the three countries he believes can win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will take place in December in Morocco.
Gyan said Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Morocco are the strongest teams going into the tournament. He made this statement during the CAF Awards ceremony in Morocco on Wednesday night.
He expressed sadness that Ghana failed to qualify for AFCON 2025 but said he was comforted that the team still made it to the World Cup.
Gyan added that Nigeria’s performance in the last AFCON in Ivory Coast showed they are strong contenders.
He also praised Ivory Coast for winning the last tournament and described Morocco as another powerful team.
According to him, these three countries Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Morocco stand the best chance of winning the trophy.
Nigeria lost the last AFCON final to hosts Ivory Coast, 2-1.
