This defeat is Liverpool’s fifth loss in their last six Premier League games and their eighth loss in 11 matches across all competitions, prompting renewed calls from fans for Slot to be sacked.

Liverpool are under renewed pressure to decide the fate of manager Arne Slot, after an embarrassing 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League returned after a week off for the final 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and the Reds had the perfect chance to ease pressure on Slot with a home game against Sean Dyche’s Forest. Instead, they suffered a humiliating loss that leaves them 11th on the league table, closer to the relegation zone than title rivals Arsenal.

This defeat is Liverpool’s fifth loss in their last six Premier League games and their eighth loss in 11 matches across all competitions, prompting renewed calls from fans for Slot to be sacked.

Despite the growing pressure, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp believes the Dutch manager still deserves patience after guiding Liverpool to last season’s title. He said:
“They [Liverpool] need to be patient. Arne Slot deserves that after last year.”

Redknapp also noted the challenges Slot faces, including the impact of Diogo Jota’s sudden death and the difficulty of integrating summer signings into the squad.

Slot himself took full responsibility for the defeat, shielding his players from blame. Speaking after the match, he said:
“If things go well or things go bad, it’s always my responsibility. We weren’t able to create enough. I tried to adjust a few things that didn’t really work out. We weren’t able to score a goal.”

He acknowledged the current slump but stressed confidence in his squad’s quality.
“We are in a very bad spell. It’s that simple. We also know in a few days we play Champions League. Keep our heads up, work incredibly hard, and try to turn things around. It’s my job to get the best out of them. I am not at the moment. That’s why I say it’s my responsibility.”
