“Look at his choice of language. A guy who shut down the Rivers Judiciary because he wanted to appoint his own personal favourite as Chief Judge of Rivers State. Once he couldn't have his way, the Rivers State Judiciary was shut down for almost two years,” he alleged.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has launched a blistering criticism of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing both men as lacking the qualities needed to drive any credible political movement in the country.

The former APC national chairman spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he dismissed the prospects of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and those he described as its “new champions.”

Oshiomhole accused Atiku of political inconsistency, saying, “Out of frustration, having lost relations, he returned to the PDP, yet he still could not fix it. Now he has found a new concoction.”

He then questioned the viability of the ADC, asking, “Who is in that party (ADC) that any Nigerian would vote for? Atiku is weather-beaten.”

He reserved his most severe criticisms for Rotimi Amaechi, whom he labelled “the most terrible.”

According to Oshiomhole, Amaechi’s past actions as governor demonstrated traits that should worry Nigerians.

“Look at his choice of language. A guy who shut down the Rivers Judiciary because he wanted to appoint his own personal favourite as Chief Judge of Rivers State. Once he couldn’t have his way, the Rivers State Judiciary was shut down for almost two years,” he alleged.

He described the incident as a dangerous abuse of democratic structures.

“The courts were shut. The old autonomous arm of government. If that man has federal power, he will shut down the Supreme Court,” Oshiomhole declared.

The senator also criticised Amaechi’s public remarks, pointing to his response to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

“Look at the way he talks. When he responded to what Wike said about him, he said, ‘I don’t talk to children.’ So a former governor, a former minister, a current minister, is a child in the eyes of Amaechi,” he said, arguing that “the way you speak is also a reflection of who you are.”

Oshiomhole insisted that no credible voter would back a party associated with Amaechi.

“For me, I don’t see any Nigerian who is going to vote for a party or someone like Amaechi,” he said.

He also revisited Amaechi’s emergence as governor in 2007, asserting that the former minister oweD his rise entirely to the judiciary.

“How did he become governor of Rivers State? He was purely the creation of the Supreme Court,” Oshiomhole stated, adding that it was ironic that, in his view, Amaechi later “sought to disgrace, to disrespect, and to shut down the Rivers State Judiciary.”

Oshiomhole cautioned political actors against equating party structures with national institutions.

“Political parties in Nigeria put together are not equivalent to the Nigerian state,” he said.
