Senegal football legend Aliou Cisse has singled out Nigeria’s Super Eagles as one of the top teams likely to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament is set to begin in Morocco next month, and the Super Eagles will be aiming to secure their fourth AFCON title on North African soil.
Cisse, who led Senegal to the 2019 AFCON final as coach, also mentioned other strong teams in the competition. According to him, Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Egypt, and Nigeria all have the potential to lift the prestigious trophy. Speaking to WinWin, he said:
“The Moroccan national team is a contender, and Senegal is also a contender, of course. There are also other strong teams such as Algeria, Egypt, and Nigeria.”
The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. Their campaign will kick off against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in Fez on Tuesday, December 23. With experienced coach Eric Chelle at the helm, Nigeria will hope to start the tournament strongly and build momentum as they chase glory in Morocco.
The competition promises excitement, and football fans across Africa will be closely watching the Super Eagles as they aim to return to the top of the continent.
