Bola Oyebamiji’s campaign received a boost when the party’s Elders’ Caucus reportedly endorsed him as the preferred candidate, saying he has won the support of many aspirants and is highly rated.

Ahead of the APC primary election on December 13, 2025, nine people are competing for the party’s governorship ticket for the Osun State election scheduled for August 8, 2026.

The aspirants include:

Former deputy governor, Sen. Iyiola Omisore

Development financier, Babatunde Hareter Oralusi

Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji

Former PDP member, Bar. Oyedotun Babayemi

Immediate past deputy governor, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi

Businessman and insurance expert, Dr. Akinade Akanmu Ogunbiyi

Legal expert, Adegoke Rasheed Okiki Adekunle (SAN)

Former state lawmaker, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Abiola Jimoh (the only female aspirant)

Senate Committee Vice-Chairman, Sen. Babajide Omoworare

The party has set December 1, 2025, as the deadline for submission of completed forms. Screening of aspirants will take place in Abuja on December 3 and 4, with results announced on December 5. Appeals for screening will be handled on December 6.

The APC leadership is reportedly planning a meeting to agree on a consensus candidate, but some party members believe this is too late and that all aspirants should compete fairly in the primary.

The party collected a total of N450 million from form sales. Each male aspirant paid N50 million, while the female aspirant paid N10 million under the party’s policy supporting women and young candidates under 40.

Bola Oyebamiji’s campaign received a boost when the party’s Elders’ Caucus reportedly endorsed him as the preferred candidate, saying he has won the support of many aspirants and is highly rated.

Attempts to get comments from the Caucus leadership were unsuccessful, though one member expressed personal support for Oyebamiji.
