The family of Lagos-based lawyer, Moses Odirri, has appealed for his immediate release from custody, where he has been held for the past three weeks without arraignment.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the lawyer’s brother, Doro Odirri, expressed concern over the continued detention of Moses, who was taken from his Alaka Crescent residence on November 10, 2025, by security operatives.

Doro also raised concerns about his brother’s health, stating that the family fears the detention may further worsen his condition. He urged the relevant authorities to ensure that Moses receives adequate care while in custody.

“Our brother has been in detention for three weeks without trial. His health is deteriorating, and we are concerned about his well-being. We are appealing to the authorities to ensure he gets proper medical attention,” he said.

A media report had earlier referenced the arrest, suggesting it may be connected to a petition Moses was said to have submitted. However, details surrounding the petition and its contents have not been independently verified.

In a statement responding to public discussions about the arrest, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) dismissed claims suggesting that Odirri was detained “on the orders” of the EFCC Chairman.

The Commission described such insinuations as inaccurate and urged the public to disregard them.

Doro, however, maintained that the family is seeking clarity on the circumstances surrounding the arrest.

He appealed to President Bola Tinubu, civil society organisations, the judiciary, and the National Assembly to intervene to ensure due process is followed.

“This detention is difficult for our family. We are calling on all relevant authorities to step in and ensure that the law is upheld,” he said.
