Prof. Abubakar Yagawal has described the death of prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman-Bauchi, as a monumental loss and an imminent dilution of an era of Islamic religious knowledge in the world.

Yagawal, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Commissioner, Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services (PRSILS), made the statement in his condolence message issued to newsmen on Sunday in Sokoto.

Yagawal, who is also the Chairman of the Circle of Amalgamated Scholars of Dariqa Tijjaniya Sects Associations in Nigeria (Majalisar Sufaye ta Najeriya), said the nation has lost an influential Islamic figure in Nigeria and Africa.

He described Dahiru-Bauchi as a devoted Muslim who spent his life spreading Islam, promoting Quranic education, and mentoring students in the memorisation and recitation of the Holy Qur’an.

Yagawal prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and urged his disciples and offsprings to sustain his footsteps in the formidable actions for the Islamic religion and people in the world at large.

Dahiru-Bauchi died on Thursday 27 November 2025 and was buried on Friday in Bauchi.
