The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has told Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, that the team must reach at least the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to SCORENigeria, Chelle met with the NFF technical committee in Abuja on Monday. During the meeting, they agreed on what they believe is a realistic goal for the Super Eagles.
Chelle was also asked to bring new and younger players into the squad. This is because Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the NFF wants fresh energy in the team.
The coach is expected to release a 28-man squad list for AFCON 2025 later this week.
Nigeria is in Group C, along with Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The Super Eagles will play their first match on December 23 against Tanzania.
Nigeria finished second at the last AFCON tournament held in Côte d’Ivoire.
