The Edo State House of Assembly has issued a seven-day ultimatum to Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, to appear before its ethics and privileges committee for allegedly bringing the House to a public disrepute.
The Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku who announced this at at plenary on Tuesday, lamented that the lawmaker has been dragging the name of the House in the mud for too long.
Natasha Osawaru who represents Egor Constituency in the House, is the granddaughter of the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion. She recently got married to hip hop singer, Innocent Idibia, otherwise known by his stage names 2Face or 2Baba.
She could be heard in a viral video inside a shop in London Airport, now trending on several social media platforms, shouting repeatedly “don’t do that”.
It was further heard in the video: “Don’t do it. Don’t fucking do it. Na everyday you go dey shout for me? Wetin dey happen? Why are you raising your voice at me?”
Agbebaku said the House frowns against her attitude and actions added that they will not tolerate and accept it any longer.
He said: “Distinguished members, of recent, this Honourable House, with celebral and highly educated members, have been dragged to the mud for too long by our colleague, Honorable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru.
“For the past one week, she has been, let me use the word, treading negatively on both electronic media and social media platforms. Television such as TVC, Silverbird and other television stations.
“We want to let the public know that this House is a decent and reputable House. In Nigeria, as a whole, this House is the best House. That is the truth.
“We have responsible members in this House, intelligent members that know what they are doing. So the attitude or the misconduct of a member cannot drag the House to disrepute,” he said.
Agbebaku who directed the embattled lawmaker to appear before the Ethics and Privileges Committee within one week, to explain why she is allegedly dragging the name of the House in the mud, gave the Committee two weeks to submit it’s report.
