The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, the lawmaker representing Egor Constituency, to appear before its Ethics and Privileges Committee within seven days over a viral video in which she was seen shouting during an altercation with her husband, 2Baba at a London airport.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, announced the summons during Tuesday’s plenary, accusing Osawaru of repeatedly dragging the image of the Assembly into public embarrassment.

He said the viral incident, which has dominated social media and television broadcasts for days, was the latest in a series of actions the House considers unbecoming of a legislator.

Osawaru, granddaughter of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin, recently married Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba. In the viral video, recorded inside a shop at the London airport, the lawmaker could be heard yelling: “Don’t do that! Don’t fucking do it! Na everyday you go dey shout for me? Wetin dey happen? Why are you raising your voice at me?”

The footage has since circulated widely across multiple platforms, prompting public commentary and media scrutiny.

Speaker Agbebaku, clearly displeased, said the Assembly would no longer tolerate conduct that undermines its reputation.

“Distinguished members, of recent, this Honourable House, with cerebral and highly educated members, has been dragged to the mud for too long by our colleague, Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru,” he said.

“For the past one week, she has been, let me use the word, treading negatively on both electronic media and social media platforms—TVC, Silverbird and other television stations. We want the public to know that this House is a decent and reputable House.

“In Nigeria as a whole, this House is the best House. We have responsible members… intelligent members that know what they are doing. So the attitude or misconduct of a member cannot drag the House to disrepute,” he added.

Agbebaku directed Osawaru to appear before the Ethics and Privileges Committee within one week to explain her actions.

The committee was given two weeks to investigate the matter and present its report to the House.
