Popular Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, has revealed one of the most disturbing experiences she encountered at the start of her acting career.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, the actress said one of the biggest challenges she faced as a newcomer was being handed bizarre and inappropriate movie scripts.

According to her, the most shocking script came early in her career—one that required her to play a character who sleeps with a dog.

“Despite being a newcomer, I was given a script to sleep with a dog,” she said. “I rejected it because I can’t start off my career like that. Imagine my first ever movie, I am sleeping with a dog. It doesn’t make sense.”

She explained that accepting such a role would have damaged her image and defined her brand in a negative way.

“Whatever you start with is what people will associate you with. I didn’t want to be known as someone who sleeps with dogs in movies,” she added.

Nkechi revealed that after she declined the role, several young actresses rushed to take it. However, according to her, none of them went on to achieve mainstream success in Nollywood.

The actress also recounted how fate stepped in shortly afterward. She said she met veteran filmmaker Emeka Duru, who saw potential in her and offered her a much more respectable opportunity.

Duru later helped her land her debut role in ‘Through The Fire’, a movie produced by renowned filmmaker Imem Isong, which eventually launched her acting career.
